Standard Specification and Test Methods for Intramedullary Fixation Devices
The purpose of this specification is to provide a characterization of the design and mechanical function of intramedullary fixation devices (IMFDs), to specify labeling and material requirements, to provide test methods for the characterization of IMFD mechanical properties, and to identify needs for further development of test methods and performance criteria.
This specification includes four standard test methods:
• Static Four-Point Bending Test
• Static Torsion Test
• Dynamic Four-Point Bending Test
• Dynamic Bending Test of IMFD Locking Screws
